Efficiency through direct pyrolysis
The Carbon Twister works on the basis of so-called direct pyrolysis.
The pyrolysis gas that escapes from the heated raw material is burnt directly in the reactor and provides the necessary process heat for the pyrolysis. This avoids the need to divert the gas and then burn it externally, as is the case with screw pyrolysis plants. The raw material comes into direct contact with the flame which means that heat transfer losses are minimized. This process has the advantage that its design is much simpler than that of screw pyrolysis plants.
Direct pyrolysis makes it possible to comply with the strict laboratory limits of the EBC (European Biochar Certificate). Biochar of the highest quality can be produced.
Insensitive to interfering materials such as stones, nails, soil residues
The reactor of the Carbon Twister contains no moving parts. Once the raw material has been filled into the reactor, it is no longer moved.
This makes the plant extremely insensitive to interfering materials such as:
- stones
- nails
- soil residues
Landscape conservation material with soil residues or shredded pallets with nails can be pyrolyzed without any problems.
Stones and nails can be removed following the pyrolysis process, if necessary. This does not have a negative effect on the process.
Flexibility in terms of material, lumpiness and inhomogeneities
A wide range of different raw materials can be processed in the Carbon Twister. These include e.g.:
- Wood chips
- Digestate from biogas plants
- Husks, grain cleaning residues, kernels, shells
- Wood residues, e.g. from pallet production or packaging materials
- Tree cuttings from landscape conservation
- In general: organic, dry residual material
Different lump sizes can be processed, from very fine material to very coarse wood chips (10 cm and more in length) as well as straw-like and stalk-like materials. The pyrolysis process can also cope with inhomogeneities in the material. Likewise, mixed materials can be processed without any problems.
Producing in EBC quality
The Carbon Twister products from the Pro range allow you to produce biochar that meets all the laboratory requirements of the EBC certificate.
The quality of the biochar depends on the quality of the raw material used. The laboratory requirements can even be achieved in the Carbon Twister when using digestate.
For certification according to EBC, further quality criteria must be fulfilled, which include the monitoring and recording of relevant parameters. The currently valid guidelines can be found on the EBC homepage.
Adapts to your processes, not the other way around
No two daily routines are the same. Depending on material availability, season or weather conditions, you can flexibly decide how you want to run the plant.
The batch process gives you great flexibility with regard to changing raw materials and scheduling. You can start up and shut down the plant at short notice. In this way, the plant adapts to your processes and not the other way around.
Modular concept: compact, individually adaptable and expandable
The Carbon Twister consists of several plant components that integrate seamlessly with each other. The modular concept makes it possible to address your individual requirements and needs. The compact design requires only about 60 m² of space on a paved surface. It can easily be moved to another installation site.
By using several reactors in parallel, the production capacity can be easily expanded over time.
Staying informed via app
Our app allows you to monitor the pyrolysis process remotely at all times. This way you can keep an eye on the throughput. If manual intervention is required, you will be informed directly.
Data recording allows you to save important parameters for analysis and documentation purposes. The transmission of maintenance information keeps you constantly informed about the condition of your plant.
